JOIN AS DEPUTY SUPERINTENDENT OF POLICE

A candidate having a Bachlor’s Degree from any university in corporate by an Act of the Central or a State Legislature in India or an Educational Institute established by an Act of Parliament or deemed to be University under Section-3 of the University Grants Commission Act. 1956 or a Foreign University approved by the Central Government shall apply for the post of OPS (Odisha Police Service), Group-‘A’ (Junior Branch) and services coming under the Odisha Civil Services (Category-I). The Examination will be conducted by OPSC in accordance with the provisions of the Odisha Civil Services (Combined Competitive Recruitment Examination) Rules, 1991 an amended from time to time.

In accordance with the provisions vide Home Department Notification No.SPS/1-64/09 (Pt.) 29452/SPS, Bhubaneswar, dated the 04.07.2011 and Rule 20 of the Odisha Police Service, Group-A (Junior Branch) Recruitment Rule, 2010, the prescribe regulations as in Annexure-I to regulate the Physical Examination of Candidates for direct recruitment to Odisha Police Service (Group-A), Junior Branch.

1. Age Limit: -

  • A candidates shall be under thirty-two years and over twenty-one years of age on the 1st Day of January of the year, in which the open advertisement is published inviting the application.
  • The upper age limit is relaxable by 5 (five) years for candidates belonging to the categories of Scheduled Castes (S.C), Scheduled Tribes (S.T), Socially & Educationally Backward Classes (S.E.B.C), Women and eligible Ex-Servicemen and by 10 (ten) years for PWDs whose permanent disability is 40% or more.
  • Provided that a person who comes under more than one category mentioned above, shall be eligible for only benefit of upper age relaxation. Which shall be considered most beneficial to him/her.

2. Educational Qualification: -

A candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree from any University incorporated by an Act of the Central or a State Legislature in India or an Educational Institute established by an Act of Parliament or deemed to be University under Section-3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 or a Foreign University approved by the Central Government.

3. Other Eligibility Conditions: -

    • A candidate must be a citizen of India;
    • He / She must be able to read, write and speak Odia and have-

          (a) Passed Middle School Examination with Odia as Language subject ; or
          (b) Passed High School Certificate or equivalent examination with Odia as medium of examination in non-language subject ; or
          (c) Passed in Odia as a language subject in the Final Examination of Class- VII from a School or educational Institution recognized by the Government of Odisha or               the Central Government; or
          (d) Passed a test in Odia in Middle English School Standard conducted by the School & Mass Education Department of the Government of Odisha.

  • A candidate, who has more than one spouse living or in case of a women candidate, if married to a person having one spouse living, shall not be eligible for appearing at the examination:
    Provided that the State Government may, if satisfied that such marriage is permissible under the Personal Law applicable to such person or there are other grounds for so doing, exempt any person from the operation of this rule.
  • A candidate must be of good mental condition and bodily healthy and free from any physical defect likely to interfere with the discharge of his / her duties as an officer of the Service/ Post. A candidate, who, after such medical examination, as the Government may prescribe, is not found to satisfy these requirements, will not be appointed.
  • The physical Standard of a candidate (s) (cast wise & sex wise) for Odisha Police Service will be as per Home Department Notification No.29452/SPS, dt.04.07.2011 enclosed (Annexure-I)

Govt. of Odisha Home Department Notification No.27497 Dt.27.07.13 regarding rules regulating the method of recruitment & conditions of service of the persons appointed to the Odisha Police Service.

JOIN AS SUB-INSPECTOR OF POLICE (INFORMATION REGARDING DIRECT RECRUITMENT OF S.I. OF POLICE.)

Recruitment Conducted by Odisha Police Recruitment Board, Cuttack.

1. Criteria.

(i) The eligibility criteria for direct recruitment for the post of S.I. of Police is that a candidate shall not be less than 20 years and more than 25 years of age as on the first day of January of the year, in which the open advertisement is published inviting the application.

(ii) The upper age limit is relaxable by five years in respect of SC/ ST candidates and 3 years in respect of SEBC candidates. For Ex-servicernen the relaxation shall be for entire period of service rendered in the Armed forces.

2. Educational & professional qualification:

(i) A candidate must be graduate in any discipline from any recognise university.

(ii) Be a citizen of India.

(iii) Be of a good moral character. He should not have been convicted for any criminal offence.

(iv) Be of sound health and physic. He should be free from any organic defect or body infirmity.

(v) Not have more than one spouse living.

(vi) Be able to speak read and write odia.

(vii) Have passed M .E. School or higher examinations with Odia language as a subject or passed H.S.C. or equivalent examination with odia as a medium of examination in non language subjects or passed the written test in odia in M.E. School standard conducted by Education Department of State government.

3. Recruitment Rule.


Recruitment of Sub-Inspector of Police is governed by Government of Odisha Home Deptt. Resolution No. 22543/D&A dtd.2 7. 5.2006.

Combined Recruitment to Group-C posts of Odisha Police Service, Odisha Prison Service and Odisha Fire Service is governed by Govt. of Odisha Home Deptt. Resolution No.44178/D&A dtd.25.09.2008.

Govt. of Odisha, G.A. Dept. Resolution No.43328-24-54/92/Gen Dt.23.12.1992 regarding reservation of vacancies for women’s employment in public services.

4.Examination Pattern.

JOIN AS CONSTABLE

GENERAL INFORMATION FOR THE CANDIDATES INTENDING TO APPLY FOR RECRUITMENT TEST FOR CONSTABLES IN CIVIL POLICE (DISTRICTS).

Recruitment Conducted by Odisha Police State Selection Board.

1. What is Constable in Civil Police in Districts: This is a base level post in the Districts/ Police Districts/ Railway Police Districts/ Commissionerate, Bhubaneswar- Cuttack. The posts of Constables play a vital role in Odisha Police. The post of Constables is available in all Districts/ Police Districts/ Railways Police district/ Commissionerate of Police, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack.

2. Basic requirement for appearing in the recruitment test of Constable: both male and female candidates can appear.

Recruitment of Constable is governed by Govt of Odisha Home Dept. Notification No.57063 Dtd.23.12.2010.

Govt. of Odisha, G.A. Dept. Resolution No.43328-24-54/92/Gen Dt.23.12.1992 regarding reservation of vacancies for women’s employment in public services.

5. How to apply: The State Selection Board advertises the vacancy. The candidate can apply in the prescribed form as per advertisement. The candidates can down load ‘application form’ from the Police website. The candidate can apply for any one District only. The application form duly filled in by the candidate can be put in the drop box of the District to which he/she has applied and also can be sent by post.

6. Documents required with the application form: The candidates should submit the self attested copies of HSC Certificate (as Proof of Age), +2 certificate (as proof of Educational qualification), Sports Certificate, National Cadet Corps Certificate, Driving License, Caste Certificates, Unit discharge certificate in case of Ex-Service men, as the case may be.

7. Test: The test will be conducted as per the advertisement of Odisha Police State Selection Board.

8. Appointment: The candidates selected in the test shall be appointed after successful verification of their character antecedents and certificates. The candidates qualified in the driving test may have to drive the vehicles if necessary.

9.Training: On appointment the candidates will undergo basic course of training for 6 months at any designated training centre and 3 months advance course of training.

GENERAL INFORMATION FOR THE CANDIDATES INTENDING TO APPLY FOR RECRUITMENT TEST FOR SEPOYS/CONSTABLES IN BATTALIONS.

1.What is Sepoy/Constable in Battalions:This is a base level post in the Battalions. The post of Sepoy is available in all Odisha Special Armed Police Battalions/ Odisha, State Armed Police (Special Security) Battalions and Special Security Battalion under the Commissionerate of Police, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack. Whereas, the post of Constable is available in India Reserve Battalions and India Reserve Battalions (Specialised). They are trained in arms and weapons to fight terrorism/maoist activities and maintenance of law and order.

2.Basic requirement for appearing in the recruitment test of Sepoy/Constable:

Recruitment of Sepoy is governed by Govt. of Odisha Home Dept. Notification Number.15082 Dtd 22.03.2011.

Only male candidates can appear.

7.The tests to be conducted: The candidates will appear in the Physical Efficiency Test in 40 marks consisting of Run-1.6 km (in five minutes), High Jump-1.22 meters, Broad Jump-3.66 meters, Rope climbing- 6 meters height, Swimming-40 meters, Cross country-5 Kms. Besides there are 5 marks for Driving Test, 7 marks for Educational Achievements, 15 marks for Sports achievements and 5 marks for NCC certificates. The Candidates will have to appear in a written test consisting of 25 marks. The test will be of matriculation standard in Odiya language, English language, Arithmatic, General Knowledge, aptitude and Logical reasoning etc.

8.Appointment:The candidates selected in the test shall be appointed after successful verification of their character antecedents and certificates. The candidates qualified in the driving test may have to drive the vehicles if necessary.

9.Training:On appointment the candidates will undergo basic course of training for 6 months at any designated training centre. And 3 months advance course of training. Thereafter they will undergo Anti Extremist Training Course at SOG Training Centre.
