Odisha experienced two consequtive disasters

  1. Cyclone Phailin .
  2. Flood.

Cyclone Tracking & Steps Ahead :

    1. Cyclone was tracked from 6th Oct.2013.
    2. Massive evacuation conducted.
    3. Cyclone shelters, schools, other safe shelters kept in readiness.
    4. ODRAF, State Fire Service, NDRF personnel deployed with equipment in strategic locations.

Services Rendered:

  1. Rescued and evacuated many persons.
  2. Cut/Removed uprooted trees.
  3. Cleared the roads in the affected area.
  4. Distributed relief material.

Achievement:

  1. On the night of 24.10.13 the ODRAF team of 4th Bn. Rourkela has rescued 60 persons of village Alapur under Hinjili PS from whirling flood water.
  2. The ODRAF personnel of OSAP 6th Bn., Cuttack also rescued 9 (nine) persons from a house which was surrounded by the flood water on 25.10.13 at village Kaithakandi under Digapahandi block & shifted them to safety place.
  3. Jawans of ODRAF of 2nd Batallion, Jharsuguda rescued 12 persons at Badadihi under Banapur PS.

  5. Shifting pregnant lady from Barapali, a maroned village to the nearest hospital with the help of Asha workers and ODRAF.
  6. ODRAF jawans Rescued 2 persons in Kanjiama village of Seragada ps, dist. Ganjam  who took shelter for 48 hours on a mango tree.
