Road Safety Tips while driving:

  • Don't use your mobile phone while driving
  • Belt up in the back
  • Don't drink and drive
  • Always adhere to speed limits
  • Take special care about children, senior citizens and pedestrians
  • Don't drive if tired
  • Pedestrians should walk cautiously
  • Always observe and anticipate other road users.
  • Keep your distances.
  • Always wear helmets and seat belts.
  • Don't try to multitask
  • Stay focused on the road remain accident.
  • Do not break the singnal.
  • Slow down your speed if you watch people crossing a street.
  • If you are driving in a bad weather or foggy area, where visibility is restricted, it is good to slow down considerably.
  • Be very careful while driving in school areas, hospitals, road intersections and main road junctions where you observe increased mobility of children and people.
  • While turning, make sure you have slowed down and you are giving proper space to the pedestrians for crossing. Road turns are very dangerous as drivers often lose their control while turning fast.
 

Pedestrian Safety Awareness: For Pedestrians:-

  • Ensure that you are aware of traffic signal signs and traffic symbols.
  • Always use crosswalks or zebra crossings.
  • Remember the fast lesson while crossing a road: Stop, look left, right and again left. Then keep looking while crossing the street. It is easier to cross one way traffic than traffic that is coming from both sides of the road.
  • Avoid running across the street. It can create a sense of driving distraction for the driver leading to more severe accidents. Moreover, if you trip while running, the situation can get out of hand.
  • Use sideways or footpaths while walking.
  • If you don't find crosswalks or zebra crossing, wait till the traffic signal is red. Don't take unnecessary risks by jumping in busy traffic.
  • Kids under 12 years must be assisted while crossing streets. Parents must be careful with kids in parking lots or areas where vehicle mobility is high.
  • Teach kids the meaning of traffic signals and advantages of obeying traffic rules.
  • Carry flashlights during night or if you are going to cross roads where there is scarcity of light.
  • Wear anti reflective colors or light colors if you have to frequently cross a street. You must be seen by the drive else the drive may not be careful.
  • Be careful while crossing high speed roads and multiple road junctions.
 
 

Traffic Safety Tips for kids: -

  • Know the traffic signals and Signs: – Remember kids, when the signal is Red it means Stop, when the signal is Yellow it means look and when the signal is Green is means Go.
  • Look Both Sides to Cross the Road: – While crossing the street always walk with an adult. Make sure that you look at both the sides and see that no vehicles are coming near you. It is better to first look on your left and then right and then look on your left again before you cross. It is advisable to keep looking both ways while crossing the road.
  • Always walk on the sidewalk or keep to your left: – Never ever walk or run on a street, even if your toy has rolled down the road! Make sure that you always walk on a sidewalk. If there are none, then stay to your left and walk while facing the traffic so that you can see the vehicle coming towards you.
  • Do Not Take your Head or Hands out of Moving Vehicle: – This can cause accidents and can hurt you badly. So make sure that you never ever do it and also ask your friends not to do it in future. Also make sure that you enter the bus and exit the bus only when it has stopped completely. Avoid playing in a moving bus as it can hurt you.

Traffic Safety Tips for parents

  • Parents are equally responsible for the safety of their children during school journeys.
  • They must ensure that the mode of transport arranged by school or by themselves is absolutely safe.
  • While taking their children to school themselves, they should take proper care of their safety.
  • Parents must ensure that the children acquire the right knowledge and skills for safe use of roads. They should teach their children the basic rules of the road, how to walk and cross the road, how to alight and board a bus etc.
  • Parents should not allow their minor children to drive.

Traffic Safety Tips for Teachers

  • Teachers should help develop a responsible attitude towards road use in school children.
  • Teachers should impart essential knowledge about roads and traffic to school children,
  • Teachers should ensure that:The children enter and leave the school safely.The vehicles including school buses are parked safely and properly.
  • Children should be supervised and taken care of at the time of alighting and boarding the school bus.
